Summary

With fears being an important topic of conversation in the most recent chapters ofOne Piece, many fans have been wondering what the various fears of the Straw Hat Crew are. Although some of their fears may be silly and difficult for a Devil Fruit to manifest into reality, other members of the crew have fairly realistic and dangerous fears that may cause some major problems down the line.

Although fear is a topic that isn’t often discussed throughout the series, these are some of the greatest fears of the Straw Hat Pirates inOne Piece.

What Are The Fears Of The Straw Hats In One Piece?

Ranging From Goofy To Terrifying

So far, none of the Straw Hats have had their fears directly stated inOne Piece. However, based on the character’s personalities and the traumatic events that they’ve experienced before, some fans have started to guess whatthe fears of the Straw Hatsactually are. Overall, to keep things simple, each Straw Hat will only have two of their fears listed, although some most likely have more, with one fear being light-hearted and the other being a bit more intense.

Zoro East Blue One Piece

First Appearance (Anime)

Episode 1

Firstly, althoughthe captain of the Straw Hat Crew, Luffy, is generally fairly fearless inOne Piece, two simple things frighten him. Firstly, running out of meat is arguably one of Luffy’s worst fears, seeing how much Luffy loves to eat. However, more seriously, after losing his brother, Ace, during Marineford, Luffy most likely fears the death of his family, the Straw Hat Crew, as well. Due to this, if Luffy’s fears were to manifest, they might appear as a figure like Akainu, the person who killed his brother.

Next, the powerfulOne Pieceswordsman, Zoro, much like Luffy, is generally fearless in almost every situation, preferring stoicism over strongly reacting. However, if he were to have a fear, Zoro would most likely be afraid of running out of alcohol to drink. Outside of this, at the same time, Zoro also fears losing shamefully in battle, both letting down Luffy and killing his dream of becoming the best swordsman.

Sanji Crying One Piece

Episode 20

Sanji, the chef of the Straw Hat Crew, has a few more complex fears, though generally, like the other members of the Monster Trio, he tends to be a bit braver in combat than other crew members. Firstly, returning to Momoiro Island, the island of Sanji’s training arc, is likely one of his greatest fears. Besides this, Sanji most likely fears having his hands damaged, which would take away his ability to cook for the crew.

Forthe navigator of the Straw Hats, Nami, although she tends to be scared in many situations, being a member of the Weakling Trio, her fears are fairly straight forward as well. First off, Nami fears losing all her money, which may sound silly at first, but is directly tied with her traumatic experiences with Arlong in the past. Going off of this, Nami likely fears returning to the servitude of another person, specifically someone like Arlong inOne Piece.

Episode 8

Being the most cowardly member ofthe Straw Hat Pirates inOne Piece, Usopp’s main fears are a bit harder to pin down. Mainly, Usopp truly fears any dangerous situation, meaning his fears could manifest in a variety of different ways. However, being useless to the Straw Hat Crew seems to be Usopp’s true fear.

Episode 81

Next, althoughthe Straw Hat doctor, Chopper, is fairly young, he seems to have some fairly dark fears regarding the rest of the Straw Hat Crew. Mainly, some fans believe that Chopper’s greatest fear involves accidentally poisoning his crew mates, similar to his situation with Dr. Hiriluk. However, running out of sweets is also likely one of Chopper’s fears as well.

Episode 67

Withthe Straw Hat archeologist, Robin, although on the surface she tends to express very little fear, internally she harbors the darkest fears of any Straw Hat. Overall, while she doesn’t have a light-hearted fear, her “less intense” fear involves losing the Straw Hat Crew due to her past. However, at the same time, some fans believe that Robin’s greatest fear is being exploited by those she cares about.

Episode 233

Moving back to something more lighthearted, Franky has some fairly simple fears in the world ofOne Piece. Mainly, the Straw Hat shipwrightfears running out of Cola, something that practically keeps him alive. For a more intense fear, Franky may fear his machines being turned into destructive weapons that could be used to hurt innocent people, similar to what happened in his past.

Episode 337

For Brook, while he has had a fairly traumatic past, the musician of the Straw Hat Crewtends to keep a level head in most situations. However, it seems likely that, based on losing his former crew in the past, Brook fears losing his new family and becoming all alone once again. At the same time, although this isn’t that much more lighthearted, some fans believe that Brook fears losing his hearing, and thus no longer being able to enjoy music.

Episode 430

Finally, the newest member ofthe Straw Hat Crew, Jinbe, despite being incredibly brave, has two fairly major fears. Firstly, Jinbe fears breaking the oaths that he has made more than anything else. However, it is equally likely that Jinbe also fears that the relations between humans and Fishmen will devolve once again, pitting the two groups against one another.

While the official fears of the Straw Hats have not appeared inthe main story ofOne Piece, based on their personalities and past experiences, these are likely the fears of the crew. Still, it seems likely that the official fears of the crew members will appear soon in one of the upcoming chapters. With the God’s Knights utilizing a fear-based Devil Fruit, the Straw Hats may have to battle their greatest fears very soon inOne Piece.
