The Legend of Zeldafranchise has produced many games throughout its existence, with a majority being well-received. While there are many reasons for the success ofZeldagames, such as their stories, gameplay, and level design, one of their most notable strengths would have to be the characters they feature. That aspect has caused many to be introduced to the games, with the resulting character interactions leading to generations of fans. But it’s important to remember that it’s not just the iconic characters responsible for the series' success, as others who are not as well known have made an impact despite having much less time in the spotlight. Perhaps Nintendo should consider giving these figures another opportunity to reintroduce themselves, and one fromthe minor races of Hyrulewould make for an excellent starting point.
Although the Hylians are the ones who are heavily remembered inThe Legend of Zeldafranchise, they aren’t the only race that has kept the world safe from evil. Another that has mostly been ignored or forgotten is the Minish, also known as the Picori, fromThe Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. Though they lack the recognizability of other entities, they helped establish a narrative and gameplay that’s unique even among the other games in the franchise. It may be time for the modern generation ofZeldafans to get a taste of what the Minish had to offer, and Nintendo can provide that via a new game centered around the tiny race.
Why the Minish Deserve To Have a New Legend of Zelda Game
Although its people are small, the Minish have certainly earned themselves another chance to become one of the mostmeaningful races in Hyrule, as Nintendo can do so much more with them, such as:
If the Minish ever makes a comeback, one that it rightfully deserves, then it will likely be on the Switch 2. Whether it’s through a spin-off or as a main series entry, the tiny race of magical creatures could certainly do more for theZeldafranchise.
How the Minish Can Justify a Return in a New Zelda Game
While one of the obvious things Nintendo can do if it wants to reintroduce everyone to the Picori is createa remake ofThe Minish Capgiving the race an entirely new game would be a much better choice. This is because the original title had already set itself up for a potential sequel, as it stated that the gateway between the worlds of the Minish and Hylians would open every century, providing a golden for a continuation. Nintendo could approach this follow-up in many different ways, as the story could focus more on the land of the adorable little creatures instead of the humans, or it could be similar to the original game but on a much grander scale.
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Capis considered one ofthe best Game Boy Advanced gamesof all time, and it’s arguably because of the Minish race that the game worked so well. As such, it would only make sense for them to come back, whether it’s in a major entry or - rather fittingly - a smaller side title.
