The islands ofPalworldare full of interesting and unique monsters, also known as Pals, and there is one in particular that stands out among them. Introduced as part of themajor Sakurajima update, the sentient, treasure chest-like Pal Mimog has been turning the heads of many players since its release in June 2024. Given Mimog’s unique and useful qualities, and that it has been well-received by the community, it is possible that a Pal that is both similar to Mimog and contrasts it could also find success.

One reason Mimog is as popular as it is inPalworldis that it acts somewhat similar to a mimic, a monster found in other games that adopts the appearance of a treasure chest to lure in and attack unsuspecting victims. However, instead of harming those who mistake it for a holder of treasure, as players might have expected it to, Mimog runs away at lightning-fast speed. While players may enjoy this unique take on mimics, one cannot help but think the game should still have a faithful representation of the iconic monster. Given how well Mimog was received, the addition of a more traditional mimic would be a move players would likely appreciate.

Why Palworld Should Have an Actual Mimic-Like Monster That Isn’t Mimog

Whilethe treasure chest-like Mimogis a fun, and adorable, mimic imitation, it feels like a missed opportunity to not also add a Pal that acts like the iconic enemy.Palworldshould strongly consider creating a Pal that does exactly that, as doing so could have several benefits:

The addition of such a Pal would certainly be interesting, given what it can do forPalworldand Pocketpair. Hopefully, it happens at some point, as it would mean that players have something else to look forward to during their adventures in the game.

Another Way Pocketpair Can Introduce a Mimic-Like Pal by Using Mimog

One can argue that making an entirely new Pal just to be more like a mimic would be a waste of effort, as it could have been used to develop another creative monster. With that in mind, Pocketpair could choose to make a variation of Mimog instead. This would be a logical move, considering that all the developer has to do is make slight alterations to Mimog’s appearance, while also giving it more dangerous qualities. Doing that would give the game a faithful rendition of the mimic and also show how variants can be more than just monsters with new elements and powers. And since the improvement of Pals is a part ofthe roadmap forPalworld, it may just happen.

Among all the newPals in the Sakurjima update, Mimog was certainly one that made a lasting impression. However, it still fails to capture the true essence of the mimic monster it aimed to represent. Creating a counterpart for Mimog could easily fix that, andPalworldwould likely be better off should Pocketpair ever decide to push through with that idea.
