People Can Flyhas entered an arrangement with Sony that will see the former work on the development of a new game titled Project Delta, based on the latter’s IP. This marks another major partnership forPeople Can Fly, which has collaborated on multiple AAA releases to date, including IPs such asGears of WarandFortnite.
Based in Poland, People Can Fly is a veteran developer that has been in operation since 2002. It has been involved in the making of certain noteworthy games, ranging from the PC port of the originalGears of Warin 2007 to the 2021 co-op shooter calledOutriders. Back in December 2024, theFortnite: Save the Worlddevs conducted over 100 layoffs, which affected a couple of its in-development projects, Project Bifrost and Project Victoria. However, despite such a downsizing of its workforce, the studio recently shared that it has taken up another project, this time from the renowned publisher Sony.
On June 21, 2025,People Can Fly announcedthe successful conclusion of a production agreement that involved cooperating with Sony Interactive Entertainment on the prototype of Project Delta. Following this positive development, theGears of Warstudiois now set to provide its services to the Japan-based publisher for a game inspired by the latter’s IP. This partnership will take place as per the work-for-hire model, which simply means that the rights to the work created will be with Sony, the commissioning party, rather than with People Can Fly, the creator. Besides this, there are little to no specifics available about the nature of the planned project at the time of writing.
People Can Fly Adds New Sony-Backed Game to Its List of Future Projects
The new game related to an undisclosed Sony-owned IP is just one of several undertakings by People Can Fly in recent times. Earlier in January 2025, the Polish studio was unveiled as aco-developer behind the highly awaitedGears of War: E-Day. Prior to that, in September 2024, it announced Project Echo as being developed together with Krafton, the South Korean publisher behindPUBG: Battlegrounds. Moreover, it has also been working on Project Gemini, announced in February 2023, for another gaming giant, Square Enix. With such major partnerships in progress concurrently, it appears like the next few years will be a busy time for People Can Fly devs.
Among its ongoing projects,Gears of War: E-Dayis understandably the most anticipated one, especially given that there are not enough details available about the others right now. With the studio having worked on the Xbox-owned action franchise before, it would be interesting to see how that experience may have come into play during the development of the new entry as more trailers for the game eventually roll out.
