Summary
A creative artist from thePokemoncommunity has recently shared their own custom mega form for Delphox, a Pokemon that many in the fanbase are hoping to see an official mega evolution for inPokemon Legends: Z-Awhen it releases later this year. Many fans in thePokemoncommunity have shown off their interpretations of what a potential Mega Delphox could look like, and with no new megas shown in any of the upcoming titles' trailers so far, artists are left with plenty of room for imagination.
Withmega evolution confirmed returning to the core-seriesPokemongamesfor the first time in around seven years inPokemon Legends: Z-A, excitement among the game’s fanbase has spiked. This is something of a sorely needed win for thePokemonseries, considering the increasingly negative public opinion that has surrounded the games in recent years. Though it’s enough that many longtime fans of the series are excited again about a newPokemongame, the hype has also inspired huge amounts of fan artwork, with most community-made artwork seemingly consisting of new mega designs.
Although some ofPokemon Legends: Z-A’s recent trailershave given players a glimpse at familiar Mega Pokemon in action, Game Freak hasn’t yet officially revealed any new megas the game may introduce. Although fan art featuring custom mega designs is nothing new, there’s been a lot more of it sinceLegends: Z-Awas first revealed, and Delphox is among a handful of Pokemon that fans want to see an official mega evolution for. This design, created and shared on Twitter by the artist Zeth6529, is a particularly wild take on the idea and features Delphox mounting a hydra-like creature made of fire.
Pokemon Fans Really Want to See Mega Forms for the X and Y Starters
The design itself was actually inspired by some of the concepts discussed in a video by the popular YouTube channel HiddenPowerPodcast, imagining Mega Delphox dropping the secondary Psychic-type in favor of the Dragon-type. The idea is that this would allow Mega Delphox to wield new abilities and moves based on the Dragon-type, thoughwhetherPokemon Legends: Z-Awill expand on megasin such a way hasn’t been confirmed.
That said, fans looking forward toPokemon Legends: Z-Acan expect some tweaks to Mega Evolution, though there is some debate surrounding the bold changes that the game will be making to the battle system.Legends: Z-Awill apparently be doing away with turn-based battles completely, instead introducing a new form of real-time battling that will allow players to control their Pokemon more directly. Early trailer footage seems to suggest that Mega Pokemon will only be able to stay mega evolved for a limited time during a battle, as an additional change to the formula, making mega evolution a more valuable and strategic resource in especially challenging battles.
