You can participate in a free Timed Research as part of thePokemon GODeep Depths event. There are only 2 Steps in the Timed Research, each with individual tasks and rewards. The tasks include catching multiple Water andDark-type Pokemon, exploring the map, and more.

There is only 1 step in the Paid Timed Research, you are tasked with catching several Pokemon, defeating Team GO Rocket grunts, and more. Therewards include Star Piece, Super Incubator, and more.

ThePokemon GODeep Depths event has 2 different Collection Challenges; In the Nickit of Time and Sea-volution. These Collection Challenges task you with collecting different Pokemon. The reward forcompletion includes in-game XP, Stardust, and featured Pokemon.
