Summary

My Hero Academia: Vigilantesis an excellent spin-off series that details the life of Koichi Hamawari, a young man who becomes an illegal vigilante in a world full of Pro Heroes. This is undoubtedly one of the best spin-off manga in the action shōnen genre and, fortunately for its fans, its long-awaited animated adaptation will begin airing very soon, on April 7.

Of course, the world ofMy Hero Academiais mainly focused on unique superheroes with incredible powers, and most of them do have an important role to play inVigilantes, which is especially interesting considering this is a prequel that takes place a few years before the beginning of the main story. As a result, some of the most popular Pro Heroes in the series will get their chance to shine in the upcomingVigilantesanime, and these are the most exciting examples.

1Taishiro Toyomitsu (Fat Gum)

He Will Get To Show Off His Unique And Useful Quirk

The BMI Hero,Fat Gum, is definitely one of the most interesting Pro Heroes in the series, as his rotund appearance and incredible Fat Absorption quirk made him truly shine during the Shie Hassaikai Arc. While he still had a big presence in most subsequent arcs, he sadly didn’t get to be an important character in any of them.

This is whyVigilantesis so refreshing for longtimeMy Hero Academiafans, as Fat Gum is one of many Pro Heroes who got sidelined in the main story and, thus, he will get to play an important part in one of its many story arcs. He is one of the main players of the Osaka Incident Arc, in which he helps the police interfere with a shipment of Trigger drugs during a Mascot Idol festival.

2Tsunagu Hakamada (Best Jeanist)

He Will Prove Why He Deserves To Be One Of The Top Pro Heroes

Best Jeanistis one of the most bizarre yet respectable characters inMy Hero Academiawho, despite his odd appearance, flamboyant personality and unique Fiber Master quirk, has managed to rise to the top of the Hero Billboard Charts and eventually became the No. 3 Pro Hero of Japan.

TheMy Hero Academia: Vigilantesanime will prove to fans that Best Jeanist was always a strong, brave and intelligent hero who’s worthy of his high ranking, especially during the climactic Sky Egg Arc, in which he will get to display his incredible powers in a way that will surely leave an impact on the audience.

3Rumi Usagiyama (Mirko)

This Fan Favorite Will Be The Star Of An Excellent Flashback Sequence

AmongMy Hero Academia’s extensive cast of interesting female Pro Heroes, none of them is as beloved as the Rabbit Hero,Mirko. With her unique design, abrasive personality and impressive strength, she has become one of the most beloved characters, both within the story and among real-life fans.

While Mirko did get many chances to shine throughout the main story,Vigilantesmakes her one of the main characters of one of its most fascinating arcs, which her fans can always appreciate. The spin-off/prequel goes in detail about her early years as an aspiring heroine, back when she was in middle school, in an exciting flashback sequence that will showcase how strong she truly is.

4Tensei Iida (Ingenium)

Tenya Iida’s Brother Will Get Some Much-Needed Screen Time

In the mainMy Hero Academiaseries, Tenya Iida repeatedly mentions his older brother, Tensei, who at one point was holding the title of theTurbo Hero,Ingenium, because they are both part of a big family of Pro Heroes. Nevertheless, Tensei sadly becomes paralyzed from the waist down after a deadly encounter with Stain early on in the story and, thus, viewers never got to see him actually working as a hero.

This is something that was fortunately fixed byVigilantesbecause, since it takes place a few years before the main story, audiences will not only get to see Tensei working as Ingenium, but they will also witness him becoming a close friend/ally to Koichi and displaying his amazing Engine quirk on multiple occasions. Longtime fans will finally understand why Tenya looked up to Tensei so much.

5Christopher Skyline (Captain Celebrity)

A New Arrogant Pro Hero From The United States

Needless to say, not every prominent Pro Hero inMy Hero Academia: Vigilanteswill be an existing character that was previously introduced in the main series, as this spin-off has a fair share of original Pro Heroes of its own. One of the most interesting and important ones isCaptain Celebrity, a top-ranking American Hero who goes to Japan to try and save his reputation.

The mainMy Hero Academiaseries didn’t delve into Pro Heroes from other countries very often, so it’s a breath of fresh air seeing one of them becoming a key player in this spin-off. After all, Captain Celebrity has a fun personality, a powerful quirk and some solid character development, so he will definitely become one of the most popular characters in the new anime. Curiously enough,he never got to interact with Star and Stripe because he was introduced in the manga four whole years before her, so it would be cool if the anime rectified this by adding a new interaction between both American heroes.

6Enji Todoroki (Endeavor)

Fans Will Get To See Him At His Lowest And Most Violent Point

There’s no denying thatEndeavor is one of the most polarizing characters in the entireMy Hero Academiafranchise, as Shoto Todoroki’s abusive father was introduced as a violent, envious and selfish person, but he eventually got some much-needed growth and a complex redemption arc. As the No. 2 Pro Hero of Japan, he will get a lot of screen time in the upcomingVigilantesanime, and it will certainly be hard to watch.

Since this is a prequel, this spin-off features one of the most violent and aggressive versions of Endeavor, who doesn’t hesitate to try and kill villains and even vigilantes with his potent fire-based quirk. At the end of the day, however, all of his scenes inVigilantesare a crucial addition to his character arc that will make his eventual development all the more impressive. It’s important to keep in mind that the final season of the main anime will air just a few months afterVigilantes, so the contrast between both versions of Endeavor will be unbelievable.

7Toshinori Yagi (All Might)

Viewers Will Get To See The Symbol Of Peace In Action, Right Before His Retirement

Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed that the main character ofMy Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Koichi Haimawari, can always be seen wearing an All Might-themed hoodie. That’s because, similarly to Izuku Midoriya,All Mightis his favorite hero and his role model, and fortunately for both him and for viewers of the new anime adaptation, they will get to see him in action at (almost) his full power.

Vigilantestakes place a few years before the start of the main plot -specifically in-between the time All Might was severely injured by All For One and the moment he transferred One For All to Deku– which means that he will have his powerful quirk throughout most of the spin-off’s story. Of course, he is so overpowered that he will have to be sidelined a few times so he doesn’t solve every conflict in an instant, but he will also get his fair share of incredible fight scenes that will remind fans why he became the No. 1 Pro Hero and the Symbol of Peace in the first place.

8Shota Aizawa (Eraser Head)

His Emotional Backstory Was First Told In The Vigilantes Manga

Shota Aizawanot only plays an important part inMy Hero Academia, but he’s also one of the most prominent secondary characters in this spin-off. This makes a lot of sense, though, seeing as he is an introverted nocturnal hero whose work method is very similar to that of a vigilante’s, so he will inevitably have many close encounters with Koichi and his friends.

At one point during the mainMy Hero Academiamanga, it’s revealed that the villainKurogiri is a Nomu created from the corpse of Eraser Head and Present Mic’s old friend, Oboro Shirakumo. This was a shocking twist that would have had a bigger impact if Shirakumo had been previously introduced in the story. But the truth is that this is a plot thread that rewarded avidVigilantesfans, since the long and emotional flashback of Aizawa and Shirakuma takes place in this spin-off, which means that it will be very satisfying to finally watch Eraser Head’s past in animated form.
