Summary

At this point in time, there aren’t many top actors who haven’t been part of theMarvel Cinematic Universe, as was highlighted by their recent majorAvengers: Doomsdaycast announcement. However, some people still haven’t been seen in a Marvel Studios movie, mainly because they’ve been involved in other major superhero movies, such asThe Suicide Squad.

Luckily for those actors, the MCU is showing no signs of slowing down at this point and new opportunities are being opened up all the time for fresh characters. This year alone, Marvel Studios is launching two new franchises within its bubble withThe Fantastic Four: First StepsandThunderbolts*; therefore, there will be more scope for new actors down the line. Marvel might have specific people in mind for certain parts, but when an actor as talented as Viola Davis wants to be involved, most people would expect them to jump.

The EGOT award-winning actress is well known for being one of the most talented names in the industry right now, which is why there’s never been a shortage of opportunities for her. While Davis typically focuses on dramas, she dipped her toesinto the superhero worldwhen she was part of theSuicide Squadcast in 2016 and the 2021 sequel. Davis recently spoke toEntertainment Weeklyabout her love of that genre and how she’d be open to playing a Marvel character. She said, “Yeah, absolutely. I don’t know what hero I would be, you know. I just, my daughter is a Marvel fanatic, so I’ve watched, I think, almost all of them five, six times. She even has a character in mind for herself, “Probably an Iron Man. I would be — maybe Iron Mania? Iron Shaniqua Mania?”

While it’s unclear whether or not Marvel Studios is looking to create more Iron Man-related content moving forward in theaftermath ofAvengers: Endgame, the one thing that’s clear is that Davis would like to be involved in some capacity. She took on the role of Amanda Waller for DC Studios, being a ruthless and brutal government official who had no problem standing up for herself against the more powerful anti-heroes in the twoSuicide Squadmovies. Davis could easily take on a similar role in the MCU at some point in the future, although seeing her as an actual superhero or a villain would be equally as exciting.

Davis’involvement in a DC Studios moviedoesn’t rule her out of jumping across to Marvel. Various actors such as Idris Elba, Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe, and Michael Keaton have all jumped between the superhero franchises at times over the years, and having Davis be the next person to do that would be a popular choice.

Having an actor who is activelya fan of the MCUand wants to be part of the franchise is a desirable situation for Marvel Studios, and that’s what they’ve got in Davis. The fact that she’s an incredibly talented actress makes the entire situation even more compelling, and hopefully, that will happen down the line in theMCU.
