The highlight of the upcoming update is Dual Front, a new mode that pits two six-operator teams against each other instead of using the game’s established 5v5 dynamics. Dual Front will allow players to choose from a pool of 35Rainbow Six Siegeoperators—including both Attackers and Defenders—which will rotate twice a season. The mode will task teams with both attacking and defending sectors, often simultaneously. Dual Front will mark the first time ever thatRainbow Six Siegeplayers will be able to have Attackers and Defenders on the same team, which promises to open new opportunities for teamwork and strategizing.

Anyone interested in trying out the new mode ahead of its release can do so by jumping into thenewly launchedRainbow Six Siege Xbeta. Enrolling in the ongoing test requires racking up around half an hour’s worth of Twitch watchtime, then redeeming the beta invite from the video platform’s inventory. The beta is available on the Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Ubisoft is planning to run the test until March 19.
Another big novelty coming inRainbow Six Siege Xis a complete overhaul of the game’s audio systems, including those for managing sound reverberation and general propagation. Ubisoft claims that this improvement will allow players to gather more accurate intel about other operators' positions and activity simply by listening. Rappel navigation is also receiving a substantial upgrade geared toward enabling more fluid movement. Sprinting horizontally on a rappel and rappelling around corners will both be possible with the new system.
The newly announced update is scheduled to reach PC and consoles on June 10. That date will mark the start of the game’s Year 10 Season 2, which will alsoseeRainbow Six Siegego free-to-play, albeit in a limited capacity.
