The Van der Linde Gang has 6 camps throughoutRed Dead Redemption 2, but which of them are the best? There are some great campsites for the Van der Linde gang, and when it comes to comparing the mood of the gang, the atmosphere of the area, and the activities to do – these are how we’ve ranked the Van der Linde gang camps.

Giving Arthur and his allies a safe place to sleep and a decent place to have some fun is central to their outlaw life, andRed Dead Redemption 2has quite thespots throughout its many stateswhere the Van der Linde gang sets up camp to evade the Pinkertons and enjoy their lives as free outlaws in 1899.

lakay

6Lakay

A Dire Settlement in the Night Folk & Gator-Infested Swamp

The shortest-lived camp in the Van der Linde gang is Lakay, a brief home that is only really a home for about 2 to 3 missions at the end of Chapter 5. It’s no wonder that this settlement is short-lived, as it’s a real nightmare in more ways than one, starting with the dreaded Night Folk that lurk in the Bayou Nwa near Lakay’s location.

Outside of the night terrors, and the ghost girl of the Bluewater Marsh, Lakay just isn’t a friendly place to be in, especially with gator-infested waters and a moody atmosphere due to the lack of John Marston and the loss of other dear friends while Arthur wasstranded in Guarma. To top it all off, camp equipment cannot be purchased or crafted in Lakay, making it a spot that the gang needs to leave ASAP.

colter

5Colter

A Freezing and Abandoned Wooden Settlement

Colter is so far North of Ambarino that the temperatures can become lethal in their cold, leaving the Van der Linde gang in a fight for survival as they try to keep people warm and fed. There’s really nothing redeeming about Colter, as its harsh climate makes it impossible to stay at, especially when there are so many people to take care of in camp.

Where the strength of Colter lies is in the snowy region, asit’s certainly unique, even if it is deadly. The constant blizzards and snowfall make it a pretty sight when one isn’t trying to stay warm to avoid death, but this isn’t a permanent residence for the gang, and they all can’t wait to leave.

beaver hollow

4Beaver Hollow

A Cave That Shows How Far the Gang Has Fallen Into Savagery

Beaver Hollow is the final gang camp inRed Dead Redemption 2, and the true collapse of the Van der Linde gang. By the time the gang reaches Beaver Hollow, they all see the reflections of savagery – how desperate they are to survive that they arehiding out in caves, acting as no better gangs than the cruel Murfree Brood that once lurked here.

Beaver Hollow is a truly depressing location, and the atmosphere by this point is all but in ruins. The gang doesn’t enjoy campfire songs or games, and the spirit of the Van der Linde gang has all but left, and anyone who is smart should leave too instead of being one of the rats caught at Beaver Hollow.

horseshoe overlook

3Horseshoe Overlook

A Secluded Forest Spot in a Chilly Region

The first spot out of the harsh blizzards of Colter is Horseshoe Overlook, a lovely spot with some truly breathtaking views from atop a cliffside within a forest. This location is central to the Heartlands of New Hanover, and so close to civilization with the livestock town of Valentine.

Horseshoe Overlook is in a lovely spot, and while the camp space isn’t the biggest, and things are quiet without Micah and Sean, it’s still got quite a range of activities and starts as the beginning of theVan der Linde gang’s journeythrough Chapter 2.

shady belle

2Shady Belle

An Old Plantation House With Enough Room For Everyone

Once the hideout of the Lemoyne Raiders, the Van der Linde gang made short work of them as they took over the territory for their new spot in the South of Lemoyne to be closer to Saint Denis and the perceived scum of civilization, as Dutch Van der Linde so nicely puts it.

Shady Belle is still a happy time for the gang, and while they might bea member down, spirits are still high here. It’s a large house, and while the history surrounding it is less than stellar, it’s still a roof over the heads of the gang instead of just tents and tarp. Plus, its location is easy to defend from invaders and the weather is nice.

clemens point

1Clemens Point

A Southern Territory Perfect for Fishing and Feuding

As the gang travels South into the territory of Lemoyne, they are going to find an old American land filled with opportunity. The warring families of the Braithwaites and the Grays get the gears turning in Hosea and Dutch’s heads, and meanwhile, the gang has a humid and hot camp spot for them to enjoy – all assembled asone big happy familyagain after the Blackwater disaster.

Clemens Point is safe for all. Jack finds a dog, the gang can go fishing here due to the lakes nearby, and the trees make for the perfect vantage against any invading Pinkertons. Clemens Point was a height for the Van der Linde gang in terms of location, atmosphere, and weather.
