To make matters worse, one of the only ways to get a Perfect Rabbit Pelt is to use a Varmint Rifle and shoot therabbitsin the head, which can be extremely difficult due to their small size and quickness—even if players are using Dead Eye. Some hunting approaches, like throwing dynamite into a pond to fish,can give Arthur Low Honor, but hunting rabbits with a Varmint Rifle is, arguably, quite humane.
5Legendary Elk

TheLegendary Elkis one of the rarest animals found inRed Dead Redemption 2. What sets this elk apart from others in its region is that it has white hair and a shaggy mane. After killing this animal, players will be able to craft the Elk Antler Trinket, Legendary Elk Moccasins, Legendary Elk Half Chaps, and the Legendary Elk Range Gloves, which go very well with the Ghost Bison Outfit.
Despite its size, the Legendary Elk can be easily scared off, so players will have to tread carefully. Thankfully, Legendary animals always yield clear or perfect pelts, so players can use any weapon. This means that if they want to go full primal on this animal, they can even use one of thebest knives inRed Dead Redemption 2, albeit it’s not the best choice.
4Legendary Bullgator
Extremely Dangerous, Especially In Their Turf
TheLegendary Bullgator, otherwise known as Lacartus, is a very rare species in the game. It’s first seen in the “Country Pursuits mission”, where it attacks the boat Jules was in, leaving him stranded in the swamp. This ferocious animal even goes to the point of attacking Jules as he tries to swim to the boat Arthur, Dutch and Thomas are in, but luckily, Arthur manages to rescue him before he becomes the Bullgator’s meal.
The Legendary Bullgator can be extremely deadly, so players must hunt it down with caution to avoid perishing in their quest. The area where this animal is first encountered is near a small settlement full of shacks,some of which are important for players to findin order to search them and obtain a few valuables.
3Legendary Bharati Grizzly Bear
Ferocious And Enormous, A Deadly Combination
TheLegendary Bharati Grizzly Bearis also a rarity in the game’s depiction of the American Wild West, and it appears in the mission “Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego”. Being considerably larger than other bears in the game, this animal is extremely dangerous and can kill Arthur without a second thought, so proceeding with caution when hunting it down is key.
Once the Legendary Bharati Grizzly Bear has been slain, players will get the components for the Bear Claw Talisman and the Bear Hunter outfit set. As opposed to other aspects of the game,Arthur having High Honordoes not affect anything in this mission, so players can walk into this formidable encounter without having to worry about their past deeds thus far.
2Legendary Cougar

By slaying the Legendary Cougar, players will get the Legendary Cougar Pelt, the Legendary Cougar Fang, and the Legendary Cougar carcass. This rare predator can be found in Gaptooth Ridge. Specifically in the western section of New Austin.
1Legendary Giaguaro Panther
Very Rare And Requires A Ton Of Patience
Finally, there’s theLegendary Giaguaro Panther, which is not only beautiful, but extremely dangerous as well. By hunting it down, players will acquire the Legendary Panther Fur, the Legendary Panther Eye, and the Legendary Panther Carcass. This precious prize can be found in Scarlett Meadows, just south of the center of Lemoyne. Specifically, southeast of Bolger Glade.
Players must be a Master Hunter Rank 9 to hunt the Legendary Giguaro Panther down, as it otherwise won’t appear. Hunting it down is also a requirement to reach Master Hunter Rank 10.Red Dead Redemption 2has many complexities beyond animal hunting, including tough moral decisions and a lot of tragedies, some of which could explainwhy Dutch becomes evilin the end.
