7Check the Map Thoroughly

Plenty of Hidden Secrets To Find

The gameplay loop inReignbreakeris simple: you enter the Bastion, explore the map, unlock the Queen’s Loyalists Vaults, and collect Keys and Artefacts. Once you’ve gathered enough Keys, you raise the Bridge to reach the next section. While some maps are small, containing only a handful of Golden Chests and Statues, others can hide valuable secrets that boost your character.

These can include Power-Up Statues, hidden Shops, or even rooms packed with multiple large Golden Chests and Statues that reward you withGolden Keys and Resolve. Check your map from time to time to make sure you haven’t missed anything.

6Use the Traps

They Hurt Your Enemies Too

When you first start playing, navigating each room can be tough because of all the traps. Whether it’s hidden spike traps that activate when you step on them or Red Canisters that explode when hit, these can take a huge chunk off your health bar if you’re not careful.

But it’s also important to remember that these traps also damage enemies. If you’re able to bait enemies into them, fights become much easier. Most enemies inReignbreakerare damage sponges, so using traps effectively is key to taking them down quickly.

5Understand the Queen’s Loyalist’s Vaults

Know Your Upgrade Options

The Queen’s Loyalists are basically characters that offer you upgrades during a run. Think of them likeGod Boons inHades. Each Loyalist provides different upgrades that enhance specific aspects of your character.

Understanding these upgrades and making an effort to unlock their Vaults depending on the way you want to play is essential to maximizing your damage output. The following table provides a general idea of the different Loyalists and their upgrades:

Master Trapper

Bear Trap

Offers upgrades that utilize traps, let you create bear traps to root enemies, and improve your critical damage.

Vandal

Dynamite

Improves Punch and Dash abilities, offers a way to inflict the Coat status effect and lets you launch Spray Cans to deal AOE explosion damage.

4Unlock the Javelins

Switch Up Your Firepower

Reignbreakerfeatures a variety of Javelins, each with unique strengths and weaknesses. As you dive into the Bastion and clear maps and bosses, you’llacquire different Javelins and Bayonetsthat can be used in your future raids. Some Javelins focus on raw damage, while others provide more ways to control the battlefield.

To maximize your effectiveness, test different Javelins in the training area to see which suits your combat style best. With a Resolve Upgrade, you can also equip a secondary Javelin and switch between them on the fly.

3Use the Resolve Engine

Meta Progression is Important

The Resolve Engine is where you unlock Meta Progression upgrades inReignbreaker. You’ll need Resolve, earned during your runs, to unlock new upgrades. The system is divided into three branches: Survival, Combat, and Utility, each boosting different aspects of your character.

You can’t haveall the Resolve Upgrades activesimultaneously, so think carefully about which upgrades you want to use for your run and focus on unlocking them first.

2Take Your Time With Each Encounter

Rushing in is Never the Answer

InReignbreaker, at least in the early stage, you’ll be on a timer to clear the Lockdown and raise the Bridge to get to the next safe room and unlock a new Javelin. However, that doesn’t mean you should charge into each encounter blindly. Enemies in the game have a lot of health, and recklessly rushing in can get you killed fast. Instead, check the area for traps, look for chokepoints to prevent enemies from surrounding you, and try to take them down one at a time.

1Build Up Your Combo Meter

Bigger Combo, Bigger Damage

The combat inReignbreakeris fast and fluid, with you dashing around the arena, landing punches, or hurling your Javelin from a distance to keep enemies at bay. As you fight, a combo meter on the left side of the screen will keep rising. The combo meter isn’t just for show; it also increases your damage output by allowing you to hit harder and deal more critical hits.

Some Resolve Upgradesfurther boost your damage depending on how high your combo gets. However, taking a hit resets the meter, meaning you’ll need to balance offense and defense to maintain your combo and maximize your damage potential.
