Summary

Tom Holland returns in anotherSpider-Manmovie after a successful trilogy. Numerous actors joinSpider-Man 4, including Sadie Sink, whose role has been a topic of discussion among fans.

Holland will be wearing his Spidey suit again inSpider-Man 4. The film will be directed by Daniel Cretton. Amy Pascal and Marvel President Kevin Feige are producing. According to recent reports,Stranger ThingsstarSink is joining the fourth iteration ofSpider-Man. Her casting was made official months after rumors that she would be Jean Grey inX-Men. Thus, fans were quick to connect the dots, and they speculated that she would be introduced as Jean inSpider-Man 4. However, two insiders debunked the rumors.

Entertainment journalist and insider Jeff Sneider appears on the recent episode of John Rocha’sThe Hot Micpodcast. The pair discussedSuperman,Spider-Man 4,John Wick 5and more. During the discussion, the host asked Sneider about Sink’s role because the latter had previously published that Sink would be Jean Grey. However, Sneider said that the names he presented before forX-Menwere “names that Marvel really likes.” However, there is still no director attached toX-Menand the project is still in its early days. He added that there were changes after someone reportedly reached out to him to clarify Sink’s role after reading his published story. He said:

As it turns out, here’s where I level okay. I got a little bit of information after I published that story last night, which is always what happens, right? You publish, people read, they say, ‘Oh, this guy, you know he’s way off, here let me tell this guy what’s going on. Yeah, so someone reached out last night. There, it sounds like she is going to be Mary Jane.

Rocha asked if Sink’s Mary Jane was from another universe. Sneider said the information was still “foggy” to him. He wasn’t sure about the variations, timelines, dimensions and multiverse because he never read comic books, but he doubled down on Sink’s role. “Sounds to me like she’s going to be Mary Jane.” Sneider is not the only insider who debunked the rumors that Sink would be Jean Grey in the MCU. Another scooper, MyTimeToShineHello, took toX, formerly Twitter and wrote: “I confirmed Sadie Sink is 100% NOT playing Jean Grey.”

Sink is a talented and versatile actress, so there is no doubt that she can portrayJean Grey or Mary JaneinSpider-Man 4. However, she’s more appropriate to play the latter because she’s only 22 and Mary Jane is in her teens, so Sink’s age is closer to MJ. Jean is one of the oldest members ofX-Menand she’s in her 30s. Also, personality-wise, Sink has the fiery, strong and natural charm MJ is known for. And she also has a great chemistry with Holland’s Peter Parker, which is significant because Mary Jane is Peter’s love interest in the comics. The MCU has not introduced a proper comic-accurate MJ yet; Zendaya’s Michelle Jones, aka MJ, is different from the comic’s original MJ, which stands for Mary Jane Watson. Zendaya’s character was only created for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It’s exciting to see Mary Jane in the nextSpider-Manfilm and potentially see a love triangle.
