By the time you reachGalawain’s TusksinAvowed, you’ll be well aware of how impactful many of the choices you make can be. Whether it’s the long-term effects of the game’s major choices, or smaller-scale side quests, there is no doubt that player choice is one ofAvowed’s best mechanics. One of the more interesting small-scale choices you’ll make comes late in the game. During “A Cure for Rage,” you must decide how to deal with a serious Ogre attack. However, if you thoroughly investigate the situation, all is not what it initially appears to be. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the quest, and answer whether you shouldhelp Grakohr the Ogre in Avowed.

How to Start A Cure For Rage in Avowed

Find Wandering Warden Lerae:

While there is more than one way to begin this quest, we will be focusing on the method that allows you to uncover all the available information the quest has to offer. To do this, you’ll want to start from theSouthern Warden Tower, directly north of the entrance gate to Galawain’s Tusks.

Head south from the tower, then turn left on the main road and follow it until you see Warden Lerae trying to flag you down. She’ll be in the center of the road, very close to a large flag pole that is visible from far away. Speak to Lerae, but remember that you’ll have to get through a brief conversation before you get to the “Where’s the Caravan” question. Show curiosity about the possibility of trade between the empire and Galawain’s Tusks, and the topic of the caravan will arise.

Where to FInd the Aedyran Caravan:

If you track the quest through your Journal, you’ll get a quest marker that pops up about 150 meters north ofWarden Lerae. Follow the main road north until you reach the marker, at which point you’ll need to diverge from the main path.

You’ll encounter the first broken cart from the caravan, with a dead body, a health potion in one of the breakable crates, and the “Bill of Goods Sold to Wardens” document under the rear right wheel. You will also encounter two smallStone Beetlesat the site.

Follow the wagon tracks roughly east, and you’ll continue to find wreckage from the caravan. Not too long after following the tracks, you’ll encounter a slight drop that leads to a rock ledge where another large wreck is found. Once you drop to the lower level, the quest task will be fulfilled, and it will be replaced by a prompt to locate Gilyn.

Before you leave the caravan’s wreckage, make sure to pick up “Common Ailments Among the Denizens of Galawain’s Tusks.“This is located in the cart on the rock ledge you drop onto while following the trail of wreckage. You’ll need this book later if you plan on ending the quest peacefully.

How to Complete A Cure for Rage in Avowed

When you reach the wreckage on the main road after dropping from ledge to ledge, you’ll see that there are large footprints formed around the broken carts. Follow the tracks south along the road until you reach the final cart, which has slammed into a rock wall. You’ll notice the large prints begin to head west towardsGrakohr’s Cave.

Make your way to the cave, and when you get close enough, a cutscene will automatically start. You will see thatGrakohr the Ogrehas taken Gilyn hostage, and you have two clear paths you can take from this point.

Attack Grakohr in Avowed:

If you choose to simply defeat Grakhor and free Gilyn, you’re able to choose the ‘Attack’ dialogue prompt as soon as it comes up. This is actually the only way to getAvowed’sLimb-Taker greataxe. The quest will essentially end as soon as you free Gilyn.

Help Grakohr:

If you decide to help Grakohr, he’ll ask you to return to the wreckage to find the book that describes the recipe needed to craft a cure forMolded Lung. As we previously mentioned, you can pick this up during your original search of the caravans. The recipe requires you to find three unique items.

Where to Find The Calcified Fire Beetle Nest:

This item is east of Grakohr’s Cave, among the rocky pillars you pass through to reach the broken bridge to the Garden in the first part of “Our Dreams Divide Us Still”. As you head east from the cave, you’ll see a large group of beetles. Simply approach the pillars and look for the typical quest item, orange-glow.

Where to Find Anti-Miotic Moss:

Head to the southwestern side of the large rock formation that Grakohr’s Cave is located in. If you just continue past the cave entrance, you’ll come across the desired red trees on the right. Climb up the ledges, and you’ll see the moss right on the edge of the rock wall, as well as under the red trees.

Where to Find the Jar of Gunpowder Snuff:

This item is very easy to find. Head to the Southern Warden Tower, climb to the second floor and look against the wall right after entering the second floor chamber. You’ll find the snuffbox on a small table near the stairs.

Should You Help Grakohr in Avowed?

The short answer is yes, you should help him. From a narrative standpoint, the quest is much more interesting when you choose to help Grakohr find a cure for his sickness.

If you decide to help Grakohr, you’ll earn theStonehearttrinket at the end.Avowed’s Stoneheart trinketwill allow you to summon aRuinous Blightto fight alongside you. You will also be able to return to the Southern Warden Tower and speak to Lerae and Gilyn, opening up Gilyn as a new merchant. It is currently unknown if Grakohr returns in any way.
