As players traverse the quarantine zone in a bid to escape inAtomfall, they will encounter a number of districts that are full of collectible items, side quests, and a host of memorable characters. Some areas will be easier to find than others, but a big part of the ease or difficulty of the discovery of each regionwill depend on your chosen playstyle.
In particular, there is one area that players may want to avoid at the start of the game, unless they are craving a challenge, as it is one of the more hostile and heavily-guarded explorable regions. Whether you want to dive right in or take your time, having knowledge ofwhere to find Skethermoor inAtomfallwill ensure you are prepared for the challenges it poses.
How To Find Skethermoor in Atomfall
Skethermoor is one of the five explorable regions inAtomfall, and is perhaps one of the more difficult ones to traverse, depending on your alliances throughout your run. There is an opportunity,as is the case with Casterfall Woods, to access this district as soon as you start, but you may want to do so cautiously. Unlike other explorable areas, like Wyndham Village, Protocol does not take kindly to strangers wandering about their camps, and will not hesitate to shoot on sight if you’re not careful.
There are essentially two entry points to Skethermoor that you can access, one in the opening region of Slatten Dale, and the other inside the walls of the heavily-guarded Wyndham Village.
Slatten Dale Entrance To Skethermoor Location
Players can access Skethermoor from the very start of their playthrough, as there is an entry point to the region through the game’s opening district of Slatten Dale. To access this entrance, players will need to venture to theSlate Mine Caves at coordinates 30.0E, 73.5N. This landmark is in the south-east of Slatten Dale, and can be entered by a surprisingly secluded door behind a mine cart.
There’s another entrance to the mines that can be easily accessed once you are finished with the starting bunker. Simply turn right from the bunker entrance, venture under the bridge and past the helicopter crash site, and you’ll find the door in the cave.
Once inside the caves, players simply need to head up the path until they encounterthe trader Reg Stansfield, and turn left. You’ll then come to a narrow passage that you need to interact with to squeeze through, followed shortly by another door that leads into Skethermoor.
Bear in mind that, particularly at the start of your playthrough, before you’ve made any alliances, there are robots and Protocol soldiers that will immediately shoot at you on sight. So, if using this entry, ensure you have a weapon or at least some healing items to deal with any damage inflicted on you.
Wyndham Village Entrance to Skethermoor Location
Alternatively, players can also access the region of Skethermoor via Wyndham Village. To get to Wyndham Village, you will need to find the entrance to the north of Slatten Dale, right next to the sewer shortcut to Casterfell Woods.
From the Wyndham Village entrance, follow the path downhill, past St. Katherine’s Church, until you come to the fork in the road at the Village Green. Turn right and pass the pub and Village Hall, and follow the pathway all the way tothe Protocol checkpoint. Walk past the soldiers to the large doors and pass through to reach Skethermoor.
How To Get Approval to Enter Protocol Territory
Unlike other areas inAtomfall, Skethermoor is a particularly hostile territory for thosewho are not part of Protocol. There are some significant landmarks in the district, such as the prison, all of which are heavily guarded. To get access to these areas, players will first need the approval of Captain Sims, who can be found in the Village Hall in Wyndham Village.
Players can get Sims' approval by showing some loyalty to Protocol by reporting any unusual activity. There are two ways to achieve this:
By completing either task, Sims will ask that you go to the prison to interrogate Dr Garrow, which will give you enough reason to enter the prison without any issues.
Your approval with Protocol will quickly change if you attack any of the soldiers, so take an avoidant and passive approach if you want to get to the restricted areas without too much resistance.
