This will allow Jin-Woo to work more actively as a hunter, but is there a goal that would drive him like his previous goal?
The Approaching Danger
Solo Leveling’s central concern currently is the approaching danger of the monstrous ants from Jeju Island. A strike team has been formed, including S-Rank hunters from South Korea and Japan. Consideringhow lethal these monsters are, Jin-Woo’s inclusion in this raid seems inevitable. But Jin-Woo prioritizes his family far more than anything, so he might want to sit out and look after his mother.
The Mystery of Sung Il-Hwan
Jin-Woo’s father, Sung Il-Hwan, went missing years ago. After coming back home, Jin-Woo’s mother asked about Il-Hwan’s whereabouts and even compared the two, claiming that Jin-Woo is following a path similar to his father.
In Season 2, Episode 3,a mysterious hunter turned out to be Il-Hwan. He seemed extremely strong and defeated Dong-Soo with ease. But Jin-Woo is still unaware of his father’s return. Sooner or later, he might find out and pursue him.
“I married him because the way he wanted to help other people was just so impressive.
It looks like you’ve inherited that part of him.”
- Park Kyung-Hye (Jin-Woo’s Mother), Season 2, Episode 9
Path of Becoming the Strongest
Jin-Woo’s unusual powers allow him to, unlike other hunters, continue getting stronger. Butthe source of his powers is still mysterious. Questions like “What exactly is the System?” and “Why Only Jin-Woo Can Level Up?” are still unanswered. To find these answers, Jin-Woo needs to keep searching and keep fighting, which will make him even stronger.
Jin-Woo’s future is uncertain, but to protect his family, he will continue to be a hunter. With passing time, he will become stronger and bigger responsibilities will fall upon him. But for now, his biggest concern continues to be his family.
