Summary
Solo Levelingis set in a worldwhere a seemingly endless war between two conflicting forces has been waged for eons. The battle has caused untold misery and destruction, shaping the fate of countless races in complex ways.
The story has familiarized viewers with some powerful characters who have influenced the course of the war and the fate of humanity. However, a few of them have yet to make their debuts. Some of these characters are set to redefine the conflict between humans and dungeon-dwelling monsters.
7Kamish
Boss of First S-rank Gate
Kamishwas a red western dragonwho wreaked havoc on the West Coast of America following the first S-rank dungeon break. He was extremely powerful and did so much damage that he is still regarded as humanity’s greatest calamity.
Kamish slaughtered over 1,000,000 civilians along with about a hundred best S-rankers from around the world.He wasn’t defeated until five National Level Huntersbanded together to stop his rampage. Although these events unfold a few years before the events of the main storyline, Kamish isn’t introduced until later in the story.
6Yogumunt
King of Demonic Spectres
Also known as the Monarch of Transfiguration,Yogumuntis an intimidating individualwho specializes in Gate Creation. He is able to manifest unique gates that are big and stable enough to move an entire army from one location to another. Like other ancient monsters of his kind, Yogumunt can also perform Spiritual Body Manifestation.
Although the Monarch of Transfiguration is quite egotistical, he has demonstrated that he is smart enough not to underestimate his adversaries. Yogumunt makes decisions relying purely on logic and strategy, unlike some Monarchs who make instinctual or emotion-driven choices.
5Querehsha
Queen of Insects
Querehshais a reckless and overconfidentindividual. She is amused by inflicting suffering on others and enjoys playing with her victims before killing them off. Her disdain for humanity is immense, to say the least, and she takes great pleasure in slaughtering them.
Querehsha is also known as the Monarch of Plagues, and she is one of the few characters in the series capable of performing necromancy. She can also induce toxins in her rivals and heal most of her injuries within a few seconds.
4Legia
King of Giants
Legiawas the hidden boss of the S-rank Gate that spawned over Tokyo and wreaked havoc on the entire country. Interestingly,the Monarch of the Beginninghad been captured sometime in the past and restrained for thousands of years.
Legia was quite cunning andtried to persuade Sung Jinwooto free him from captivity. Like other Monarchs, he has an overwhelming bloodlust for humans, and he struggles to hide it despite his best efforts. Had he not been restrained when the Tokyo S-rank dungeon break happened, the casualties would have been significantly higher.
Among many abilities that Legia was gifted with, Gate Creation and Spiritual Body Manifestation were arguably the most potent.
3Tarnak
King of Monstrous Humanoids
The Monarch of the Iron Body,Tarnak, is an extremely conceited and hubristic individual. He was capable of Telepathy and Gate Creation. He could also perform Spiritual Body Manifestation to turn into a monstrous golem.
In this form, he was extremely powerful and could destroy entire cities without breaking a sweat.
2Ashborn
The Monarch of Shadows
Also known as the Greatest Fragment of Brilliant Light,Ashbornis one of the few charactersin the series who does not allow his immense powers to corrupt him. He yearns for peace and wishes to end all war, having experienced the death and destruction it has unleashed for eons. He also has immense compassion for humanity and even demonstrates it through the choices he makes.

Ashborn is the only Monarch whose powers intimidate the King of Dragons, Antares. With his army of powerful shadows, he is capable of unleashing untold misery on his adversaries.
1Antares
The Oldest Monarch
Antaresis the Monarch of Destructionand perhaps the strongest being in existence. Like most Monarchs, he is egotistical and looks down on the human race. He also has no qualms about committing genocide as he sees humanity as weak and irrelevant to the world order he wishes to establish. Antares is also the King of Dragons and is feared by other Monarchs.
Since Antares is the oldest Monarch, he has participated in countless battles and understands the world better than most. His combat experience is made even more lethal because of his incomparable supernatural powers. Some of his abilities, like Breath of Destruction, can kill top S-rank hunters.
