Summary
Some EuropeanXboxgamers have recently suffered from an issue in which they were unable to play games due to error messages telling them they were not online. Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon for theXboxnetwork to suffer from temporary outages, and this issue was one of the most recent examples of this problem.
The Xbox Series X/S were released by Microsoft in 2020. Recent reports indicate theXbox Series X/S has sold around 30 million globallysince then, a number that pales in comparison to the 65 million units sold by the PlayStation 5.
Now, some gamers in Europe have encountered an issue while trying to play on Xbox devices. According to a social media post made by a gamer who had this problem, these players receive a message from the system saying that they need to be online to play games, with an error message displaying the code 0x803f9008. This error occurred despite the gamers being connected and able to download games from the Xbox Store or stream using apps. In the post shared by one gamer, it’s possible to see that users from countries such as Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, and others have been affected. At the time of this report, however, it seems that the issue has been resolved and gamers in these locations can access their library of games normally.
Some Xbox Gamers Have Been Unable to Play Due to “You Need to be Online” Errors
This is the latest of a few issues that Xbox gamers have suffered from. Back in November 2024, for example,Xbox Live went down, affecting many gamers who tried to use its services during the time. The service outage essentially prevented gamers from playing online or accessing features such as xCloud.
More recently, a newXbox console update reportedly reset some gamers’ systems back to factory settings. The issue happened as part of the Xbox Insiders program, which allows gamers to gain access to updates before they are released to all users. This caused multiple users’ systems to reset, removing their profiles, game libraries, and other data from the console unexpectedly.
Fortunately for Xbox fans, not only is Microsoft solving these problems, but it is also working on a new, exciting project. Earlier this week, new details about the upcoming next-gen Xbox consolewere revealed. According to the report, the new device will be a handheld, and it will be released in 2025. It’s believed that the device will be made in partnership with another unspecified tech company and that it may feature both Xbox Game Pass and Steam, which is seen as a selling point. In any case, more information about the project will likely appear soon.
