Summary

Power Rangerscome in a wide variety of colors, with Red, Yellow, Blue, and Black being the most common. However, there are a few unique Rangers with a rarer main color in various series throughout the long history of the TV show.

A Purple Power Ranger is certainly a rarity, with no main roster including the color from the start. However, there are a few series that have included a Ranger clad in Purple in later episodes or as an antagonist who dons a similar attire. Also, the color is present in the expanded comic media, so casualPower Rangersfans will not have even heard of some of these rangers.

8Alternate Purple MMPR

Bulk

Fans may remember Bulk as the bully and occasional ally of theMighty Morphin Power Rangersand beyond. However, in the comic of the same name by Boom! Studios, he actually donned a purple Power Ranger costume for a brief period.

When Rita Repulsa successfully captured the Rangers in a monster,Zordon recruited Bulk and Skull, using extremely rare power coins to transform them into the Purple and Orange Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Bulk was given the Baconodon Zord and a pig-themed costume. After the duo defeated the monster, Alpha 5 erased their memories so that no one would remember they had ever been Rangers.

7Dino Charge Purple Ranger (1)

Albert Smith

In a single episode ofPower Rangers Dino Charge, Albert Smith is introduced as a self-proclaimed Bigfoot hunter from New Zealand. However, he secretly serves as the Dino Charge Purple Ranger. Although he is portrayed as cowardly and often avoids combat, he ultimately proves his worth by assisting in the defeat of Iceage and Sting Rage.

After this battle, Albert decides that he no longer wants to be a Ranger. He chooses to sever his connection with his Energem, leaving it in the care of the other Dino Charge Rangers.

Kendall Morgan

After Albert Smith stepped down as the Dino Charge Purple Ranger, the Energem was left without a user. Kendall Morgan, who was an ally to the Rangers, also served as the proprietor and lead scientist of the Amber Beach Dinosaur Museum. After unsuccessful attempts to find a suitable recipient for the Energem, it eventually fell into Kendall’s hands.

In the process of rescuing the stolen Energem, Kendall bonded with it, becoming the permanent Purple Dino Charge Rangerand joining the team. She demonstrated her strength in many battles, enhanced by the abilities of the Plesiosaurus, which she used to combat evil throughout the series.

Robert “RJ” James

The first Purple Ranger to appear in the series was Robert James, also known as RJ. Initially serving as the mentor for the Jungle Fury Power Rangers, he eventually became a full-fledged member of the team as the Jungle Fury Purple Wolf Ranger.

What distinguishes him from other Purple Rangers is his ability to summon a Wolf Animal Spirit and transform into an animal form that resembles a werewolf. Utilizing his martial arts training along with the powers of the Purple Ranger, he became a pivotal figure in the Jungle Fury roster.

4Dimension X Purple Ranger

Donatello

In the crossover comic seriesMMPR/TMNT, theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesand the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers teamed up. They swapped roles, with the Rangers becoming Ninjas and the Turtles becoming Power Rangers. In this storyline, Donatello assumed the role of the Black Power Ranger.

Later in this universe, it was revealed that the Turtles had become Dimension X Rangers, and this time, Donatello was represented by his bandanna color as the Purple Dimension X Power Ranger. Using the Shadow Morphers, they battled Rita Repulsa and saved their friend, Casey Jones, from her brainwashing.

Koragg/Leanbow

Although Koragg is not technically a Power Ranger, he is so impressive that he deserves a mention. He is an ancient and fearsome warrior who served under Octomus the Master and was a formidable adversary for the Mystic Force Rangers. The spirit of Koragg possessed Leanbow, granting him an incredible purple knight-inspired armor.

Eventually, Leanbow was freed and transformed into the Wolf Warrior, donning a similar but red costume. Koragg went on to possess Nick Russell, the Red Ranger. After the Master was defeated in the series finale, Koragg, known as the Knight Wolf, was lost forever. However, he certainly demonstrated his strength throughout the series.

2Purple Solar Ranger

Ellarien

Ellarien is a character exclusive to the comics who leads the Solar Rangers, a group dedicated to fighting evil within the Void—a dimension that exists outside the limits of space and time. In this reality, the Voidhas destroyed the Morphin Grid. Ellarien’s battle-hardened personality was shaped by her difficult upbringing on the streets.

One day, while attempting to steal food from a monk, she was startled when he used the Solarix morpher to defend himself. However, the monk ultimately fell to his death while trying to protect her. Before he died, he entrusted her with the Solarix, and she vowed to protect it from the Preator’s Crimson Horde. This pivotal moment led her to eventually become a Solar Ranger.

1Void Knight

Tarrick

Originally the main antagonist ofPower Rangers Dino Fury, Void Knight was an alien from Rafkon who transformed into a powerful being using abilities granted to him by his family. He often proved to be more than a match for the Rangers and was even feared among his own ranks.

However, upon realizing that he was under the spell of the Void Queen, the Void Knight switched sides and joined the Rangers to help defeat her once and for all. Later, Tarrick reappears to assist the Cosmic Fury Rangers as the leader of Earth’s resistance against the formidable Lord Zedd.
