Summary
The much-beloved sci-fi hitSupernaturalofficially went off the air on June 13, 2025. Alas, its stars are reuniting on one of Prime Video’s biggest hits and one of them seems a bit anxious about the whole endeavor.
When the fifth (and supposedly final) season ofThe Boyshits Prime Video later this year, its cast will be larger than ever. In addition to franchise mainstays like Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, and Erin Moriarty, a host of new faces are joining the superhero series. To start, Daveed Diggs—star ofHamilton,Snowpiercer, andBlack-ish, among many others—has joined the season in an undisclosed main role. Then there is Mason Dye, ofStranger ThingsandTeen Wolffame, joining the proceedings as Bombsight, a hero with superhearing abilities. And finally, both Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins have signed on for aSupernaturalreunion-of-sorts with their old co-star Jensen Ackles (who plays Soldier Boy on the show).
During the 2025 Texas Film Awards, Padalecki toldBusiness Insiderabout his upcoming stint onThe Boyswith formerSupernaturalco-stars Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins. “I don’t know a whole lot about it, which is effing terrifying. I don’t know what we’re doing. I don’t know if we like, bump into each other. I don’t know much about it. They’re still trying to write and figure out who’s gonna be there. But, it’ll be the end of this month.” Padalecki went on to mention that series creatorEric Kripkereached out to him about showing up onThe Boys. “He’s like, ‘Hey, you wanna come play?’ I’m like, ‘Yes, I think?' …it’s f***king terrifying for me.”
Jared Padalecki Seems To Be Fretting The Supernatural-Boys Reunion A Bit
It’s understandable that Padalecki would be a bit apprehensive about reuniting with hisSupernaturalco-stars, not that the trio isn’t in good hands. Padalecki, Ackles, and Collins all spent numerous years of their lives onthe long-running CW showthatThe Boysshowrunner Eric Kripke also created. If anyone knows how to get the best out of that particular acting group, it’s Kripke. Assuming Padalecki is being 100% honest about not knowing exactly what his role is onThe Boys, that would cause anyone to be a bit anxious. Imagine not knowing what you’re going to be doing when going into work, despite millions of people anxiously awaiting to see what you do there. It’s enough to make the hairs stand up on someone’s neck.
Padalecki, Ackles, and Collins aren’t the onlySupernaturalstars to show their faces onThe Boys. Everyone fromJeffrey Dean Morganand Jim Beaver to Alvina August and Christian Keyes has appeared on Amazon’s hit superhero series. In some ways,The Boyshas felt like one longSupernaturalreunion special thanks to Kripke’s inclination to bring actors aboard that he has worked with before. Now, around five years afterSupernaturalended its fifteen-year run, its three main characters are reuniting and fans couldn’t be happier. Well, they might be happier if aSupernaturalsequel show ever materialized…
