In the Red Gate arc, Jinwoo, along with a few low-rank hunters, was abandoned by the White Tiger Guild’s A-rank raid team leader, Kim Chul. Sung prioritized his group’s safety while fighting with the magic beasts they encountered. On the other hand, Kim Chul’s group was slaughtered mercilessly in the dungeon, forcing him to flee for his life.
When thedungeon boss, Baruka, confronted Jinwoo, the latter was far from intimidated, but this turned out to be one of Sung’s most challenging battles, as Baruka was stronger than Jinwoo at the time. Jinwoo had to take the help of Igris and turn Chul into Iron to eventually take down the dungeon boss and save the hunters trapped there. While he did not receive the appreciation he deserved for his achievements, Jinwoo certainly made a name for himself for his troubles.

Unlike most of his battles, Baran pushed Jinwoo to his limits and forced him to adjust his techniques several times during the battle. When Jinwoo eventually won, he was overcome by emotion, knowing that he finally had the ingredients for the Holy Water of Life.
5Sung Jinwoo Rescues The Hunters Guild’s Raid Team
Jinwoo Defeats Kargalgan
In the Hunters Guild Gate arc, Jinwoo joins an A-rank raid team as a miner. Everything appears normal at first, but the hunters are soon overwhelmed by an army of high orcs, led by a high orc shaman named Kargalgan.
Kargalgan calls the A-rank raid team to his lair to use them as a source of amusement before he slaughters them one by one. He might have been successful in his sadistic plan had Sung Jinwoo not intervened. Kargalgan underestimated Jinwoo at first, but it soon became evident that he was no ordinary human.
Despite having an entire army of high orcs, Kargalgan was overwhelmed and easily defeated. Until this point, most top hunters had suspicions about Jinwoo’s true powers, but this raid confirmed their fears. Sung was not only strong, but he was potentially the strongest Korean hunter.

When Jinwoo’s father, Sung Il-Hwan, was found, it was Hwang Dongsoo who was coincidentally chosen to interrogate him. As soon as Dongsuk’s brother noticed that Il-Hwan was related to his arch-enemy, he took the opportunity to tell him the misinformed news that his son was dead.
