Summary
Solo Levelingis set in a bizarre placewhere mysterious Gates, teeming with bloodthirsty monsters, spawn all over the world, and gifted human beings, known as Hunters, put their lives on the line to clear them. The series features characters from different backgrounds and races, some of whom are gifted with so much power and influence that it eventually gets to their heads.
These characters are so self-absorbed that they lose touch with reality and begin to look down on everyone they encounter. While there are quite a few sucharrogant magic beasts and hunters inSolo Leveling, these are perhaps the most intolerable.

Lee Minsungis a popular actor and A-rankhunter associated with the Fiend Guild. A genius in personal branding, he knows how to use the media to create an image of himself as a humble star, but in reality, he is a manipulative and arrogant person.
Lee always wants to be the center of attention and truly believes that he is better than everyone. Minsung is so conceited and self-centered that he can barely tolerate anyone else getting the limelight and is willing to do anything to preserve his fake public image.

Arguably the best barrier magic user in the world,Yuri Orloffwas aspecial S-rank hunter from Russia. Like most hunters of his stature, he was a highly sought-after individual, especially in high-stakes missions with the possibility of a dungeon break. Yuri enjoyed special treatment because of the kind of experience and expertise he brought to the table.

At some point in his life, Orloff grew arrogant and opportunistic, willing to exploit others to make a quick buck. He even underestimated thethreat of high-ranking Gates, monopolizing all the profits for himself—a greedy tactic that eventually cost him his life and caused untold misery for countless other people.

Japan’s Greatest Hunter
Goto Ryujiwas a morally bankrupt and evil person who was willing to put other people’s lives on the line for his personal benefit. Asthe leader of Japan’s strongest guild, he was part of many high-stakes missions. Unfortunately, his success as a hunter got to his head to the point that it clouded his life decisions.
Goto eventually paid dearly for his arrogance.In the Jeju Island arc, when he was confronted by the Ant King, who was significantly more powerful than him, Ryuji failed to realize their power difference. He contemptuously accepted the battle and even had the audacity to claim that he was the King the Ant King was looking for. This turned out to be a fatal mistake, as the Ant King beheaded Ryuji with ease.

TheAnt Kingwas aruthless and murderous magic beast. He looked down on human beings and actively sought to fight the strongest rival he could find.

The creator of the System and a loyal ally to the Monarchs, theArchitectwas theboss of the Double Dungeonand a Demonic Specter. He was extremely savage and bloodthirsty, deriving pleasure from violence.
You played around with a person’s life, so are you ready to face the consequences?
The Architect also looked down on human beings and treated them as mere insects to be trampled on. WhenSung Jinwoo confronted him following his reawakening, the Architect was shocked once he realized that a human had grown strong enough to overpower the System he created and defeat him.
2Kargalgan
High Orc Shaman
Kargalganwas the boss of the Hunters Guild Gateand a humanoid-type magic beast. Capable of using powerful magic spells, he could easily overwhelm an entire squad of A-rank hunters. However, the high orc shaman was too cocky and regarded human beings with disdain.
Kargalgan even liked to play with people’s lives just to amuse himself and appeared to enjoy violently crushing his adversaries, reveling in their fear and suffering. It was his narcissistic and arrogant attitude that eventually brought about his downfall, and although he had a brief epiphany during his fight with Jinwoo that his opponent might be a Monarch, it was too little too late and led to the orc shaman’s end.
1Hwang Dongsoo
Korean Hunter Who Moved to America
Hwang Dongsoois an S-rank hunterassociated with the Scavenger Guild. Before moving to America, Hwang worked briefly in Korea but was eventually lured by the money and power offered by Thomas Andre’s guild. Loyalty to the motherland and his comrades back home mattered little to him as he sought to advance his career above all else. However, Hwang was not just disloyal and greedy but also quite arrogant, as he believed that he was above the law.
After his brother, Hwang Dongsuk, died under mysterious circumstances, Dongsoo vowed to exact revenge by killing Sung Jinwoo and Yoo Jinho. In his pursuit of vengeance, he disregarded all boundaries and went as far as almost fighting a Korean S-rank hunter from the same country he abandoned for money and power. His sense of entitlement and arrogance exceeded all boundaries, as he felt that he could do anything without ever facing the consequences of his actions.
