The Sandman Season 2 Casts Its Third Actor To Play William Shakespeare

According toRedanian Intelligence, which is known for its insight into shows like Netflix’sThe Witcher,The SandmanSeason 2has cast actor Will Keen, known for his roles inThe CrownandHis Dark Materials, as the show’s third William Shakespeare character.Season 1 ofThe Sandmanwelcomed fans to a young version of Shakespeare, who was played by Samuel Blenkin, and forThe Sandman Season2, it was previously announced that Luke Allen-Gale would play the adult version of Shakespeare. Now, it seems as though Keen may play a much older Shakespeare in Season 2 as Morpheus meets the historical character at different stages of his life throughout the series.

InGaiman’s comics, which ran from 1989 to 1996, William Shakespeare made an appearance in issue #13, titledMen of Good Fortune, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and in #19,The Tempest. TheA Midsummer Night’s Dreamissue actually won a Hugo for best short story, which was the only time an individual issue of a comic has won the prestigious award. However, in the comics, Shakespeare doesn’t appear to Morpheus three times and this is something that the show’s creators have included in its story arc.
