Summary
The first season ofFallout’s TV series adaptation was a smash-hit for both newcomers and long-time fans when it premiered in April 2024. Pulling in nearly 65 million viewers in just over two weeks, it became the second most-watched title of all time on Amazon’s Prime Video platform.
While the series has officially been renewed for asecond season, there is little to no word on an official release date yet. So fans are eager to see what’s in store for the show’s continuation, rumored to come in early 2026. With the previous ending giving a small glimpse of the infamous New Vegas, the sky’s the limit for what’s in store for the future. So, what are some of the things fans want to see the most inFalloutSeason 2?
Spoiler Warning: This article contains spoilers from Fallout Season 1, as well as the Fallout Games.
1The New Vegas Strip
With The Strip’s Famous Casinos, Of Course
A pretty obvious one here, given the ending of Season 1, but it has to be said.Fallout New Vegasis easily one of the most beloved in the franchise, and itstitle locationis its most distinctive feature. The post-apocalyptic rebuilding of the Las Vegas strip, or what’s left of it at least, complete with all the flashing lights, interesting characters and, of course, the casinos of the infamous Sin City.
Seeing familiar casinos fromFallout New Vegas, like The Tops, Ultra Luxe and Gomorrah, would be a true nostalgic throwback for fans of the series. Suffice to say they need to make a return for the next season.
2The Kings
“Thank You, Thank You Very Much”
TheFallout serieshas seen many different factions and groups over the years, each having their own set of beliefs, values, and goals. From rebuilding a similar pre-war US government and its bureaucracy, to visions of reviving a new Roman Legion with its brutality fully intact, they each had something that set them apart.
Perhaps the most unforgettable of the bunch beingThe Kings. Inspired by none other than the King of rock and roll himself, the group took over the Strip’s outskirts after being ousted around the events ofFallout New Vegas. While the group wasn’t a major faction in the game or its plot, a crooked gang of wastelanders looking like they came straight from the classic 1983 filmThe Outsiders, is surely a strange but unique concept that would be an interesting addition to the TV series.
3More Vaults
Vault-Tec’s Devious Experiments
The Vaults are a large part of what makesFallout, well,Fallout… The many nuclear shelters designed and built around the country by Vault-Tec, to keep citizens safe in the event of total world war, turned out to be nothing more than testing chambers for their many evil experiments.
The first season explored the topic quite a bit, revealing the plot behind Lucy’s home Vault and its two neighbouring facilities. Also showing Lucy’s encounter with Vault 4 and its residents later in her journey, revealing its previous experiments that its dwellers managed to foil.Fallout’s lore contains over a hundred different known Vaults, some of which are located right in New California where the show takes place. So there is a ton of potential for expansion on the topic, as well as providing some more insight into Vault-Tec’s devious-doings within each of them.
4Wasteland Creatures
Yes, Even Cazadors
The series' first season gave viewers a taste of some of the horrific, irradiated creatures the series is so well-known for. From Lucy’s surprise encounter with the disgusting Gulper, to the iconic Yao guai, a gigantic, grotesque mutation of what was once the common black bear. Even the Ghouls, both common and feral, had a large part in its episodes, especially with one of the main characters, Cooper Howard, being Ghoulified himself.
Even with all that’s been seen so far,Falloutcertainly has many more fearsome creepy-crawlers to offer. It could be the common wasteland creatures, like the Bloatfly or Radscorpion, or maybe some of the more fearsome ones, like the series' iconic Deathclaw or the humongous Super Mutant Behemoth. With so many to choose from, fans certainly won’t be picky about which of the game’s legendary mutated monsters will come to the show next.
5The Game’s Crazy Weaponry
This Show Needs Some More Mini-Nukes
WithFallouttaking place in a dangerous, post-apocalyptic rendition of America, there’s one thing that is certainly not in shortage: firepower! TheFalloutseries is known for itslarge range of weaponry, common classics like the 10mm Pistol and Hunting Rifle, or some completely unhinged designs like the Fatman and the K9000.
The first season has already seen the return of some fan favorites, albeit with some creative liberties taken here and there, but given the amount of blood and gore that’s been shown thus far, there’s no doubt more in store for the series. For the brutal and violent setting of New California’s wasteland, the usual bullet may be fine, but having a couple of mini-nukes flying around would certainly be a welcome addition for the fans.
6Shady Sands Backstory
The Fall Of Shady Sands
With Shady Sands being one of the major locations inFallout’s first two games, fans were understandably shocked to find out that it ended up being destroyed, events that were never mentioned prior in the series. While the show did provide some info about the event’s background, fans were still left scratching their heads as to where the fall of Shady Sands resides in theFallouttimeline.
Todd Howard, the executive producer and director for many of theFalloutgames, would later go on to provide some clarification in aninterview with IGN, where he stated that the destruction of Shady Sands happened shortly after the events ofFallout New Vegas. Nonetheless, it was one of the big shockers of the first season that will hopefully be expanded upon in the coming episodes.
7Characters From The Games
Familiar Faces From New Vegas
Bethesda has had so manymemorable characters in their games, and when Obsidian took the reins for development ofFallout New Vegas, they certainly continued that trend. And with so many to choose from, it’d be almost impossible to narrow that list down to even just a few that should be included.
It would be great to see the fan favorites, like Boone, Veronica or, of course, Joshua Graham, but some of the non-human characters, like Rex, ED-E or Marcus, may be even more interesting to see make an appearance. Since theFalloutTV series takes place around 15 years after the events ofFallout New Vegas, it’s more than reasonable for many of the game’s characters to possibly make an appearance. The only question is: who will it be? Only time will tell…
8V.A.T.S.
Who Cares If It’s Overpowered?
While it might be difficult to work a video game mechanic into its TV adaptation, with how well-known it has become in the franchise, it feels like it just has to be included here.
The Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System is thought to be some sort of technology developed by Vault-Tec before the Great War. While it’s unclear exactly how it works, the system is meant to assist the user in precise targeting of an enemy in combat. In theFalloutgames it has pretty much become a staple mechanic, allowing the player to slow or stop time entirely to target an enemy’s specific limbs with high accuracy. Often resulting in a slow-motion, cinematic display of the enemy being obliterated by the player’s weapon of choice.
While viewers did get to see the Ghoul’s big shootout in Philly with its slow-motion shots of mass carnage, there was no mention of V.A.T.S. playing a role in it. But with all the shootouts and violence likely to come in Season 2, even a small callback to the iconic system would be a nice touch for fans.
