There are a lot of monsters to fight inMonster Hunter Wilds, and if the sheer variety of the bestiary isn’t enough, there are still Tempered Monsters to deal with in post-game content. They provide a harder challenge for seasoned hunters, and as such, they give better rewards as well.
Fighting Tempered Monsters is a great way to get rare materials like monster parts anddecorations inMH Wilds, but they’re also reserved for hunters who have reached the tail-end of the game. Here’s a quick overview of Tempered Monsters, including how to find them and what rewards they offer.
What Are Tempered Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Tempered Monsters are monster variants thatdeal more damage and exhibit more aggressive behaviorcompared to their ordinary counterparts. In a fight, they aren’t radically different compared to normal monsters, but there are some key differences to take note of.
First, not only do Tempered Monsters drop the same things you’d expect from a normal monster, but they also drop Weapon Shards, which can beused to craft Artian Weapons inMH Wilds. Weapon Shards only drop from Tempered Monsters, and since there’s a lot of luck involved in Artian weaponcrafting, you’ll need to fight a ton of Tempered Monsters if you want to craft a specific weapon.
Second, Tempered Monsters can formTempered Wounds. These glow bluewhen you use Focus Mode, and when you destroy them, you’ll get Wyverian Bloodstones, which can be used to get even more materials and Artian Weapon Shards via the Melding Pot in Sild.
Third, Tempered Monster investigations tend to havemore orbetter rewards compared to regular monsters. Once you enter a region, open your map and press the Square/X button to see the list of available monsters in the area. Check the monsters in the list to see a preview of their rewards. You’ll notice that Tempered investigations usually have more guaranteed rewards, including rare materials like Wyvern Gems and other rare monster parts.
How to Fight Tempered Monsters
Players will fight their first Tempered Monster during Chapter 4 of the post-game story in a quest calledWyvern Spark and Rose Thorns, where they’ll be tasked withhunting a Lala Barinain the Ruins of Wyveria. Once this quest is complete, Tempered Monsters will begin spawning in all regions.
You can either directly hunt Tempered Monsters by approaching them. However, keep in mind that all monsters will leave a region after a certain amount of time has passed, so make sure not to wait too long.
You can spend 200 Guild Points to save a Tempered Monster hunt as an Investigation via the Environment Overview menu on your map.
