The sad state of the world inAtomfallis the result of experiments conducted on something called Oberon. One scientist in particular, named Dr. Holder, has been secretly hiding out near The Interchange, hoping that someone will arrive to help him.
Lucky for him, you arrive in the zone. He’ll offer to lead you out of this place, but first he needsSample One, which is a piece of Oberon. To find this sample, you’ll need to delve deep into the Medical department of The Interchange, and battle infected enemies.
How To Access The Medical Department In Atomfall
To reach theMedical wing of The Interchange, you’ll first need to power up the facility from theCentral Processor Room. There will be signs on the wall that point you in the direction of this room. Once there, you’ll need to insert an item calledanAtomic Batteryinto the Bootstrap System Terminalto turn on the power.
After this, you’ll havefour Data Storesthat will need to be powered up individually. If you use an Atomic Battery to getData Store Charlieup and running, you’ll be able to use the lock release to exit out into the lower level of The Interchange.Head across this level, go through a pair of yellow doors, and head up some stairs.Then, take a left to open up the quarantine shutter. On the other side of the shutter will be the entrance to Medical.
When you enter Medical, you should be very cautious since there will be tough enemies calledThrallsinside. It can take several bullets to put them down, and their attacks will deal infection build-up in addition to the damage they deal. Try to fight them from a distance with a rifle or a pistol, or have a shotgun ready if they get too close.
You can investigate the Medical department to find information about the experiments that were conducted here. In the notes you can find, you’ll hear about a man named Dr. Holder who was doing research on samples of Oberon.From the Main Reception area of Medical, if you go right pastthe Pneumatic Tubeand then go immediately right again, you’ll find a little corner with an audio log titled “Holder Is Up To Something.” This log will reveal that Dr. Holder is currently holed up underneath the St. Katherine’s Church in Wyndham Village in a secret lab within the church cellar.
Coincidentially, theChurch Cellar Keywill be right next to this audio log. So head on over toWyndham Villageto speak with Dr. Holder.
Where To Find Dr. Holder In Atomfall
St. Katherine’s Church is located at the coordinates 33.3 E, 78.0 N in Wyndham Village.Vicar McHenry will be here, and through him, you can start theSt. Katherine’s Church Lead, which involves solving a murder. But ignore him for now, head downstairs, and look for a white wooden door that leads to theForgotten Cellar.
Unlock it with the key, and you’ll run into Dr. Holder. Judging by his unnaturally blue eyes and skin, he has obviously been infected by Oberon. However, upon talking to him, he will reveal that he has resisted the effects of the infection by using anExperimental Innoculation.This same innoculation will be sitting on Holder’s desk. When used, you’ll immediately gain theInfection Resistance skill, and the Radiation Resistance and Healing Boost skills will be available to learn from the Conditioning section of your skills.
Speak to Holder, and he’ll give you plenty of exposition about what’s happening in the quarantine zone. He’ll then tell you that you need to bring him something calledSample One, which is a purified sample of Oberon. He’ll then give youHolder’s Keycard, which will unlockthe lower level of the Medical departmentwhere you’ll find this sample.
How To Get Sample One In Atomfall
Return to the Medical section of The Interchange. From the Reception area,go right past the Pneumatic Tube like you did earlier to find the Church Cellar Key.This time, instead of going right,take the first left and head straight to find the keycard readeryou can use Holder’s Keycard on. This will open up an elevator shaft that you’ll need to drop down.
Crawl through the hole down at the bottom. There will be more Thralls down here, including one that will be staring in your direction down the hall to your left. After dealing with the Thralls, you’ll notice a hallway filled with toxic gas. Use theDecontamination Controls on the console next to this hallwayto vent the gas. Continue on and you’ll see some malfunctioning electric doors. Squeeze through them andpress a button labeled’Systems Power.'
Head down some steps near the sealed door to the Auditorium. You’ll finda lever on a console called ‘Lockdown Control.‘Pull the lever, and the doors to theAuditoriumwill now be open. At the bottom will be a corpse covered with a blanket, emitting blue mist that inflicts damage and infection build-up.Next to this body will be a sealed cylinder containing Sample One.There will also be another tough Thrall down there as well. Brave the mist to grab the sample and bring it back to Dr. Holder.
If you continue to snoop around the lower level of the Auditorium, you can find theResistances Manual, which will allow you to learn skills that will give you resistances to bleed, burn, and poison.
