Your horse will be your main way of getting around inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2. While you can fast-travel, this will usually take a lot more in-game time, which can be detrimental for some quests that are on a set timeline.
If you’re trying to ride your horse and, for some reason, it won’t move any faster than a trot, there are a few things that may be causing this issue. Here’s each cause and how to fix them to make your horse get back up to speed and keep Henry from getting bucked off.
Horse Not Sprinting Fix In KCD2
Horsescan’t sprint in townsand that is by design.
There are a few reasons your horse won’t sprint, and the first two that are worth checking are based on carry weight. Various patches in the game can change the weight of in-game items, as was the case with Patch 1.2. When this happens, theitems in your horse’s inventory can go beyond its carry capacitywithout you knowing, since the game usually stops that from happening.
It is possible for Henry to go over his carry capacity while on your horse, though this won’t affect the horse’s ability to sprint. This can happen if you got right up tohis carry capacityand thebuff wore off while you’re riding your horse. This is another thing the game tries to stop, as you’re able to’t mount a horse when over carry capacity in general, but there are a few ways you can accidentally get around that.
To sprint, only your horse needs to be under carry capacity. Outside of that requirement, sprinting doescost your horse stamina, as displayed by the green bar right next to your health bar. Be sure to manage that properly, as running out will have your horse stop in its tracks and possibly buck you off no matter the situation.
Increasing Your Horse’s Carry Capacity In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
A long-term fix to try to make this issue never come up again is to increase your horse’s overall carry capacity. Usually, the carrying capacity of a horse isdetermined by their base stats,so some can naturally carry more than others. That being said, the equipment you choose to put on your horse can also help them carry more:
Speed, Stamina, and Courage are also stats to worry about when equipping gear on your horse, but depending on how you use it, focusing purely on carry capacity can essentially make your horse a walking chest, which is very useful later in the game when every enemy is dropping very expensive armor and weapons.
