This update added Naxxramas, the final raid from the original game, leading many to believe the end of the experimental servers was nigh. Now,World of Warcrafthasofficially revealedwhen the newClassicSeason of Discovery update will arrive. On April 8, the experimental servers will enter Phase 8, starting with a batch of outdoor and profession content in New Avalon. First introduced as a Scarlet Crusade outpost in theDeath Knight starting experience fromWorld of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, this town appears for the first time in VanillaWorld of Warcraft, where heroes team up with a splinter faction of the Scarlet Crusade to go behind enemy lines and gain the trust of the citizenry, earning crafting recipes, new rewards, and more.

Then, on April 10, the Scarlet Enclave raid opens. An evil presence has taken over the Scarlet headquarters at Tyr’s Hand, and between 20 and 40 players will need to band together to fight the eight bosses found within. Datamining suggests fans will encounter some familiar faces in the raid, such as the living version ofWorld of WarcraftForsaken leader Lilian Voss, so players should be prepared for anything.
Were that not exciting enough, a new Legendary weapon questline for Warriors, Hunters, and Paladins will open at the same time as the raid. Though Blizzard was coy about what this “fallen weapon” is, it is almost certainly the iconic Ashbringer two-handed sword, and hints discovered on theWorld of Warcraft ClassicSeason of Discovery PTR suggest fans may go to Mount Hyjalin order to purify it.
Season of Discovery has introduced original instances in the past, such as the Molten Core boss within the eponymous raid or theKarazhan Crypts dungeon fromWoW ClassicSeason of Discovery Phase 7. That said, Phase 8 is the first Season of Discovery patch that is full of completely original content, making it one of the most unique and excitingWorld of Warcraft Classicupdates to date.
