Summary
Solo Levelinghas once again become a phenomenon, with many anime fansfalling in love with the amazing art, crisp animation, and hype moments. Hunters are the main characters in the world ofSolo Leveling, as they are the only individuals that can deal with the terrors that come from the dungeons.
Over the course of the story, fans have been introduced to several strong hunters, but there are some who aren’t great at all. Theworst hunters inSolo Levelingaren’t always deserving of the title due to being weak; some are also unreliable, and others are terrible partners to have to work with during a dungeon raid.

Anime Debut
Episode 1
Han Song-Yi is a friend to Sung Jinwoo’s sister and is an E-Class hunter who was resolute in her decision to quit school and face life as a hunter. As an E-Class, she was already at a disadvantage in regard to her powers, but as has been seen so far, she isn’t able to do much in combat.
Han Song-Yi constantly needed saving by Jinwooand wasn’t able to add much to any party she was in. At best, she was a great body to have to make up a strike squad, which Jinwoo was able to use to level up, but that was about the extent of her ability and usefulness.
Park Beom Shik was introduced as a D-Class hunter who got back into the game in a bid to earn something for his family. He was part of the team thatwent into the double dungeonwith Jinwoo and others, where the main character of the story got his powers.
Park Beom Shik never made it out, as he was killed by one of the statues without so much as placing a dent in any of them. His design also betrayed the fact that he was likely unfit. While there’s not much that can be done about his rank, there was likely something to be done about his fitness level. This could have made the character more effective in combat, as was the case withSong Chi-Yul, who was adept at using swords.

Yoo Jinho was instrumental in Jinwoo getting stronger, as he was the one who was able to work out how to have a strike team. He was a good character who seemed earnest and willing to do what he could. Unfortunately, in the world ofSolo Leveling, this wasn’t enough.
Ashe was from a rich home, Jinho could afford really expensive armor, and this was a big help to him. But, as seen in the Dungeon & Lizards arc, where he and Jinwoo were faced with the real prospect of death at the hands of Dongsuk, there was little to nothing he could do but for the help of Jinwoo.
Episode 18
The power system ofSolo Levelingseems pretty simplistic at first. A hunter has a rank, and they stay there forever, incapable of ever getting stronger. However, what goes into making a hunter strong varies and includes things like their natural physical ability, mental toughness, and so much more. So, a high rank is not enough to be a good hunter.
Lee Minsung, while an A-Rank, already showed how bad of a hunter he would be, as he only cared about how good he looked, and his fragile ego was crushed when upstaged by Jinwoo. He was unable to deal with the ants that came his way during the Jeju arc and was easily intimated by Woo Jinchul, who is the same rank as he is.
Episode 5
Hwang Dongsuk is theolder brother of the S-Rank Dongsoo. He is a C-rank himself and was killed by Sung Jinwoo during a raid in which Dongsuk sought to kill Jinwoo and Jinho. Dongsuk was a tanker who seemed quite skilled, but his cutthroat nature made him a liability.
In truth, Dongsuk’s whole party can be considered completely morally corrupt, but Dongsuk was the worst. He also took great pride in his brother’s strength and was more than happy to name-drop him whenever he had the chance. Dongsuk essentially got his comeuppance and indirectly also led to his brother’s downfall.
It might feel harsh calling Joohee the ‘worst’ of anything, as she was a tragic character who couldn’t live up to her potential due to trauma. But the world ofSolo Levelingis unforgiving and relentless, meaning that, in her state, Joohee is not of much use in a dungeon raid.
Whilea strong B-Class healer, she isn’t any good in combat, can freeze up due to her trauma from the double dungeon, and is unable to use some of the advanced techniques that could have made her more viable during raids, like Min Byung-Gyu’s cloaking ability. It can be hard to admit, but she is easily one of theworst hunters inSolo Leveling.
Episode 3
Hunters are dangerous individuals who are allowed to kill monsters, some of which are humanoid in appearance. So, it is a problem when a character expresses dissatisfaction with killing monsters and prefers humans instead. Kang Taeshik, who is a hitman-for-hire and a hunter that no one would like to work with in a raid, is an example of this.
Worse still, Taeshik worked for the Hunters Association, giving his side job an official sheen. Taeshik was a strong character and was perhaps one of the strongest (if not the strongest) B-Ranks in the story, but his murderous tendencies also make him worthy of being called one of the veryworst hunters inSolo Leveling.
Episode 13
Kim Chul was a hunter in charge of a team during the Red Gate incident. Kim Chul wasa powerful A-Rank hunter, but his deplorable personality and arrogance eventually led to the death of his team and, ultimately, his own demise.
Kim was strong enough in battle but showed a shameful side, as he was willing to let others die. When his plans to ‘cut his losses’ failed, and he found that Jinwoo’s party was thriving, he got upset, which is inexplicable seeing as he left them to die. He was a revolting character, and few shed tears at his death.
