Summary
Narutois a series full of amazing jutsu that fans love to witness in their full glory. From nature transformation jutsu to powerful original creations that can turn the tide of battle, the world ofNarutois no stranger to its fair share of impressive techniques.
That being said, there are some jutsu in the series that may seem underwhelming or downright stupid when compared to more practical techniques that can be used in battle. It’s a testament tothe amazing fight scenes inNarutothat these jutsu don’t take away from the quality of the action.
8Leaf Village Secret Finger Jutsu: One Thousand Years Of Death
The Entertainment Value Makes Up For Its Lack Of Damage
Kakashi is shown to be somewhat of a goofy ninja who’s late all the time and doesn’t seem to take his team seriously. This may result in an underwhelming first impression, especially given the goofy ninja technique he uses on an overzealous Naruto during the Bell Test.
Naruto tries to overwhelm Kakashi with Shadow Clones, only to be caught out in a flash as Kakashi unleashes one of the funniest techniques in the series. Calling One Thousand Years of Death a jutsu is a stretch, but many fans can’t help but laugh and beamazed by Naruto’s ingenuitywhen he uses the same technique against Gaara in a high-stakes battle.
7Ninja Art: Mind Transfer Jutsu
The User Is Left Defenseless
At first glance, fans may be impressed bythe mind-control powers of the Yamanaka clan’s jutsu. However, it comes at a major cost, with the person using this jutsu losing control of her body in the process.
This means that Ino needs constant backup if she wants to rely on this technique, which makes it useless in a one-on-one battle. If she misses this technique, then she will be left defenseless for a while, which could lead to her death in a sticky situation.
6Beast Mimicry: Man Beast Clone
An Ultra-Specific Technique That Isn’t Really All That Useful
The fight against Kiba and Akamaru during the Chunin Exams isa major test of Naruto’s mettle. He is beaten down several times by the duo, especially when they use the Man Beast Clone jutsu to turn into two versions of Kiba.
It may seem like a cool technique, but fans need only think about this jutsu for a second to realize how unnecessary it is. Akamaru may be a pup early on, but he grows into a massive hound who doesn’t need to change into his master anymore when his original form is more than enough to deal significant damage.
5Sexy Jutsu
A Hilarious Technique That Was Somehow Relevant In The Kaguya Fight
From the very first episode, Naruto’s focus on developing stupid techniques is clear as day when he whips out this transformation technique in front of Iruka. The fact that he continued to use this technique with varying degrees of success in the series is somewhat impressive.
The most notable instance of the same is when he uses the Reverse Harem jutsu against Kaguya, catching her off-guard with a bunch of scantily-clad men. It was a highlight of the fight that showcased howNaruto personifies his moniker as the No. 1 Most Unpredictable Ninja.
4Roof Tile Shuriken
A Weird Jutsu That Only Appeared Once And Didn’t Seem All That Effective
One of the most specific and weak jutsu in the entire series, the Third Hokage whips out this techniquewhile battling Orochimaru and the resurrected Hokage. It’s not impressive at all to see him use roof tiles as a weapon, even if they’re enhanced to deal more damage.
This is the only instance of the Roof Tile Shuriken jutsu making an appearance, showing that even Kishimoto didn’t know when to bring out this hyper-specific technique when other shinobi had more damaging tricks up their sleeves.
3Twin Rising Dragons
The Jutsu’s Association With Tenten Negates Any Impact It Could Have
It’s a shame that Tenten was ignored by Kishimoto, turning her into one of the weakest characters inNaruto. She is supposed to be a weapon master but does little to nothing to show off her expertise, barring a fight against her clone.
Watching her whip out the Twin Rising Dragons jutsu is painful, given how little of an impact this technique actually has. Ideally, a hail of weapons should debilitate someone, but Temari made it clear just how ineffective this jutsu was against a competent shinobi.
2Rope Escape Jutsu
An Underwhelming Jutsu That Didn’t Even Need To Be A Named Technique
This is another specific jutsu, only appearing in order tosave Sasuke from his bindings. The fact that undoing a rope is somehow a jutsu shows that Kishimoto was willing to add the jutsu label to almost anything as long as it fit.
Compared to the other techniques in the series, it’s easy to see why undoing a knot can seem so underwhelming. It’s a bizarre technique that is conveniently forgotten after an appearance at the start ofNaruto.
1Clone Jutsu
The Basic Cloning Technique That Is Forgotten About Not Long After
The fact that ninja must learn a basic clone jutsu to pass in the Ninja Academy is a testament to how weak this technique is. The lowest variant of the clone jutsu creates other copies that can’t harm anyone.
It’s easy to see why Zaku laughs in Sakura’s face when she whips out this technique over and over again during their battle, even if it did give her an opening to bite him. With other material clones taking over, the basic clone jutsu becomes ridiculously useless inNarutoand is only fitting as a distraction.
